Adjusting to retirement has been especially difficult for our client, Anonymous, because working was essential to his identity! He was a manager of a Gold Refinery for several decades before moving into a management position at a maintenance company. Due to his steady employment history, Anonymous never needed food assistance until his retirement. Unfortunately, this is a far too common phenomenon and, in 2014, 3 million households with seniors experienced food insecurity.
Anonymous, we’re so glad that you came to our Pantry for assistance. We can tell that you’re a very strong and hardworking man who utterly loves his family. (In fact, he raised his wife’s siblings after their parents passed away several decades ago). Thank you for sharing your story with us <3
